Cables and Lace

All in one small project.

You may remember the swatch I made a few weeks back. I fell in love with a pattern by Norah Gaughan in the book A Gathering of Lace, but didn't quite feel up to knitting a whole sweater with it. Instead, I decided to use the motif for a scarf. Getting older and wiser by the minuteā€¦ I like having FOs.

  • Yarn: Cashmerino by Ornaghi Filati
  • Yardage: 492 yards (4 balls of 25gr each)
  • Needles: size 3.5mm (US 4)
  • Pattern: stitch pattern by Norah Gaughan for Ribbed Lace Pullover
  • Source: A Gathering of Lace

I have loved this sweater since the book first came out and I extra-love how you've made it into a scarf! A scarf is easier to squeeze into my schedule - I'm totally going to copy you. Any minute now ... LOL

Beautiful!

Pretty :) Those travelling cables make for a lot of concentration!

Love it! Is the yarn as soft as it looks?

Absolutely gorgeous!

Looks great!

Er, does that mean that we'll see the finished PinS, Pg 140 soon?

OMG, that's stunning. I need one.

Wow, that's really nice! It has such complexity to it. Good call on making it a scarf.

Beautiful, very good adaption in my opinion!!

I can see why.

What a beautiful pattern.

I heart Nora Gaughan.

Wow... Another FO... You really have been productive lately. I love the scarf.

What a lovely scarf! You have inspired me to try this with a similar cable/lace pattern for an elaborate top I fell in love with years ago. The sweater just doesn't suit me, but the cable pattern's enchanting.
Thanks for a great idea--it seems obvious, now....

That is such a neat cable pattern, Norah Gaughan rocks, I have yet to knit one of her patterns, but I'd like to try one of these days. The scarf looks beautiful, and I bet it feels great in that cashmerino!

a scarf was a great idea! It looks beautiful!

This is so pretty. I love the intricacy of the cables and the whole project looks so smooth and soft. Just stunning!

Beautiful work. Very inspiring!

Hi! That's a very nice work! I have a knitting (also) blog, and I quoted you among "The good knitters" and I think I will post the picture of the pattern to let all visitors appreciate it. Visit me at: http://gomitolina.blogspot.com/
