Vindicated

See? It's not just me; I didn't make this up. Most of the time, Italian restaurants abroad are really awful.

If you don't believe me, trust the Accademia Italiana della Cucina. See the article on the BBC website.

Shhh! Nearly 12 years here and I haven't stepped into an Olive Garden ;-)

I'm not Italian, but I know my cooking is better than the local posh Italian place if only because I don't pour a layer of salt on everything! Last night I fixed a quick saute of lamb with fresh garlic, olive oil, pine nuts, and a mountain of fresh basil. The wine? A 1985 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Rionda di Serralunga. Even the empty bottle smells divine. [My daughter just stepped out of her room and saw me sniffing the bottle and freaked out, thinking I was drinking straight from a bottle!]

Completely agree - don't even get Luigi started on this topic. You'll never hear the end!

No news to me, I just wish everyone else would get a clue. I think it's slowly getting better in the US. Don't even suggest eating at the Olive Garden; I won't set foot in one.
