Stitch markers

Not much knitting going on in the last few days, but I just got these stitch markers from Zero Markers. I'd been keeping my lace pattern straight (sort of) by using contrast color yarns and getting a little frustrated here and there. Aija at Zero Markers was prompt and super nice. She offered to customize the rings based on needle size and even sent two extra markers in a different style. Tonight I'll see how my new markers work out. I am a bit worried about those transitions where there is a YO that goes across the marker; will that result in a loose stitch?

I use tons of markers in my lace knitting, and I haven't noticed that the markers next to yo's cause a problem. But I'm a fairly loose knitter, so I've got some slack in my yarn anyway.

It's been a while since I knit lace with stitch markers, but as I recall, the issue I had when YOs intersected with markers was not the marker making the stitch looser, but rather the marker somehow sliding under the YO and ending up one stitch off, if that makes any sense.

Then again, I was using simple rubber O-rings rather than beaded markers; I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes.

If I have had a problem with markers, it has been the same as Tonia's, but you learn fast where this can happens, and I have never had the pattern off because of it.

Ditto what Tonia wrote! I use closed jump rings and that adds to the "problem" since they're little and thin.

I just love stitch markers as objects but I never got used to using them. It's a pity, really, as there are so many lovely and exquisite stitch markers around!

I have never had a problem with mine either. If my markers tried to slide under my YO I would use one of the markers with a lobster clasp on the end. That way it does not slide one or the other it stays right with the stitch.

I leave it on the same stitch for several rows as long as it is easy to find. Once it gets a little down I bring it back up to the stitch on my needle.

Happy knitting.

I've had this problem too, Francesca - the YO either pulls across the marker and gets too loose, or I inadvertently slip the marker along a stitch which can put the count out on the next row unless you're watching for it.

Markers and YOs don't go all that well together, in fact, which is a pity because that's when you need them most!

I use markers all the time for everything so when I get spacey I don't mess up an entire row. I don't have such pretty markers though! My cheapest markers are some tiny little rubber bands I got at a walmart. I use them when I want to knit in a marker and cut it out later.

I use stitch markers, and yarn loops, for my lace knitting. I like the markers close to your knitting. Are they also from Zero?

Sorry about the meme tag... and no problem with passing on it!
