Nupps

*#@!~^!!

And that's all I have to say about that…

…before I go make myself a hot chocolate. Yes, it's 33ºC and I'm making myself hot chocolate. If you've ever done nupps, you understand.

Sgrumpf.

couldn't you make a nice chocolate milkshake, same choc fix less heat. I've never tried nupps, and don't plan to anytime soon. I do want to knit a shawl with them in the pattern but there is a no nupps but beads version - needless to say i'm going with the beads.

I think I invented a few new swear words when I was learning how to do nupps. A teeny-tiny crochet hook helps.

Delurking to agree with the milkshake idea :) I have a wonderful old chocolate syrup recipe that I'd be happy to share.

When I knit my swallowtail I used a tiny crochet hook to fish the stitch through. It slows those rows down a bit but they come out perfect and I curse much much less. I really dislike this way of doing nupps. Nancy Bush has a much better, but different, way of doing them...I think it's in Folk Knitting in Estonia.

Did you try using a crochet hook instead of a needle for the p5tog?

Francesca!
I so understand you, I designed gloves for the book with those nupps, k7 together is really a challenge but if you want the bobble to stand out.. thank God, I used a crochet hook, now we have addi lace, which should make it easier! Enjoy your Chocolatto Caldo!

i think instead of *#@!~^!! nupps might be more *#@!~%%**&+#KKPFFFFt! with fortitude and more chocolate you will persevere. how about the nuppless and soothing shetland triangle for a break??

I used a crochet hook. It helped a lot, but I admit I wished the inventor of the nupp to a place hotter than earth before I had the hole thing going.

I must be an oddity as I rather like doing nupps. I learned in Nancy Bush's Estonian Lace class.

I'd go with a mocha frappuccino from Starbuck's to stay cool!

I will forever curse nupps! I swore to never knit them again, but I may after all. I figured out that I have to make my yarn overs really big (like wrapped around my finger) and then I could manage to purl them all together.
